Rolf Pilve is the drummer for the heavy metal band Stratovarius. He had his first taste of fly fishing over thirty years ago but really got things going when he moved to Helsinki in 2010. He is an avid trout, sea trout, and salmon angler. Rolf calls the mighty Rio Grande in Argentina and the Mörrum River in southern Sweden his favorite rivers. He also loves to fish for chub and salmon on the Kymijoki River in southern Finland.

Fly tying is a big part of this lifestyle for Rolf. The preparations and anticipation for each fishing trip start at the vice many months before the actual trip.  

What are your biggest passions in fly fishing? "My biggest passions are salmon and sea trout. They both offer a big challenge and good times fishing with dear friends. "

Vision gear that you can't live without? " I would have to say the XO Graphene Switch 11'3" #7  and the Vision MAG 11' #2/3."

What are your top 3 flies? "I would choose the Sunray, Ullsocken, and PT-nymph"

What is your wildest fishing memory? "One morning session on the Rio Grande stands out. I hooked three big sea trout in four casts. The average weight was 5 kilos. It was crazy!"
