Mika Vainio has been fishing for 40+ years and is one of the most legendary Finnish fly anglers. Salmon and sea trout are his thing, but over the years he has done just about everything. He's been a professional guide and the fishing guide of the year here in Finland. He's been a competitor and a team captain for the Finnish fly fishing team.

Mika is the co-founder and member of the editorial board of the Finnish fly fishing magazine Pohjolan Perhokalastaja. Mika was Vision Group's marketing manager from 2010 to 2017.

What are your biggest passions in fly fishing? "Hunting large Atlantic salmon with dry flies, mostly in Northern Norway. My goal is to someday land a +20kg salmon with a dry fly. "

Vision gear that you can't live without? " The old GT4 9' #8 is still my favorite salmon rod. I also love my XLB reels and Scout waders"

What are your top 3 flies?  "Pompero, Red Frances, Sunray, Strömsö, and Green Butt"

What is your wildest fishing memory? "It would have to be catching a 117cm salmon on a dry fly."
