MIKA ORALUOMA

Mika is a fly-only guy from Tampere, Finland. No matter if it's a perch in his local water or a halibut in northern Norway, it's fly-only. When Mika was a younger man, he spent most of his time chasing trout in Central Finland but is now a more frequent user of his belly boat, which he uses to chase mostly pike and perch.

Alongside fly fishing, Mika has been doing competition fly tying for decades, with a few world championships in his pocket, but nowadays he prefers to "steal" flies from fellow Pro Team members' fly boxes... Mika has also made a few TV appearances showcasing his fly-tying skills.

What are your biggest passions in fly fishing? " My biggest passion is when I get to see fish eat my flies. It can be a trout coming up to a tiny dry fly, a pike devouring a wiggle tail fly, or a tuna chasing down a surf candy. It is absolutely best when you get something visual before you feel the pull. "

Vision gear that you can't live without? " The old Merisuola rods. Toka rods. Merisuola reels. Relief waders. "

What are your top 3 flies?  "Parachute Adams, Deceiver, and Supertinseli."

What is your wildest fishing memory? "Can't really just pick one. The best ones all share the same pattern: years of planning, anticipation, and then finally payoff. Being a trout bum in New Zealand, a bonefish bum in Aitutaki, and catching my first bluefin tuna with my best friends all share the same "wild" spot in my heart. "
