JOHN KÄRKI
John Kärki is a passionate fly angler from Stockholm, Sweden. He started out fishing for trout and grayling and later on progressed to sea trout fishing. John spends most of his fishing time in the beautiful Stockholm archipelago chasing the elusive silver bullets, also called sea trout.
John writes about fly fishing for Swedish fishing magazines and has also published a book about sea trout fishing.
What are your biggest passions in fly fishing? " I love to fish for sea trout but am also a big fan of carp, chub, and asp. I'm also very much into tropical fishing for GTs and other powerful fighters. All and all I just love all kinds of fly fishing. "
Vision gear that you can't live without? " I can't go fishing without my Vibe85 fly line. It's just spectacular! There's also no rod like the #12 Merisuola Predator rod for giant trevally and big flies."
What are your top 3 flies? "Woolly bugger, streaking caddis, and Haröra"
What is your wildest fishing memory? "I have so many it's difficult to choose. Maybe my Swedish fly record chub that weighed 2.75 kilos. The fight was super hard, and the fish was stuck in some trees for like two minutes! Was very lucky to get that fish into the net."
