JARI OKSANEN
Jari Oksanen is from Jyväskylä, Finland. He has been fly fishing for over 30 years. Jari started out with local brown trout and progressed to salmonmania, as he calls it. Jari is a Baltic salmon specialist, and he continues to challenge and improve himself every year chasing that big silver monster. The times between takes are long and painful but very much worth the effort.
He was the Finnish champion in salmon fly fishing in 2021. When he is not landing big salmon, he is an avid photographer and videographer.
Jari makes spectacular salmon fishing content alongside his friend and fellow Vision Pro Petteri Lax on their popular Kalatarinoitasuomi channel.
What are your biggest passions in fly fishing? "Early season Baltic salmon for sure. The bigger, the better. It's a remarkable feeling when you get that first big pull of the season. It might be the biggest fish of your life! "
Vision gear that you can't live without? " I would have to say the Custom DH Raiwo spey rod 16'6" and the XO #12+ reel. I'm also very much looking forward to trying out the new XO III #11 16'6" rod"
What are your top 3 flies? "Black&Orange, Phatakorva and Strömsö are my favorites"
What is your wildest fishing memory? "I think my craziest memory would be fighting a 111cm early season salmon in Tornionjoki. The spot was so nasty that I couldn't give that fish any line. That was one tough exercise!"
