JARI KOSKI

Jari is a fly-fishing fanatic from Tampere, Finland. He specializes in predator fly fishing and will cast his fly at any fish that will eat a baitfish pattern. Jari has fly-fished for rudd to salmon here in the north and from bonefish to bluefin tuna in the salt. He spends most of his time between SW trips fly fishing for perch and pike. Mainly floating around in his belly boat.

Jari is a world-renowned fly tyer and is most known for his amazing bucktail patterns for SW and pike fishing. He is also a very innovative fly designer for perch and bluefin tuna, for example. He has also written a bunch of articles over the years and has pictures featured in international fly fishing magazines like the Fly Fish Journal.

What are your biggest passions in fly fishing? My biggest passion in fly fishing is getting fish to eat my baitfish patterns. I'm addicted to the tug. After that, I would have to say that fly fishing for perch and bluefin tuna are my two biggest passion species. Pike comes in at a close third.  "

Vision gear that you can't live without? " Merisuola Predator and the old Merisuola rods. Toka rods too. Merisuola reels offer the best bang for the buck when it comes to high-performance reels. Nalle overall and bamboo hoodie also get year-round use. "

What are your top 3 flies?  "Hollow bulkhead deceiver, The Baler and Clousers in different sizes."

What is your wildest fishing memory? "This is by far the hardest question on the list. Catching a 2-kilo perch is definitely one. I was so over the moon that I forgot to breathe and almost fainted after the whole thing. I could not move for hours. Likewise, I will also never forget my first bluefin tuna. There's literally nothing like them, and trust me, I've tried finding a substitute.   "
