ERLEND VIVELID NILSSEN

Erlend Vivelid Nilssen lives on the island of Askøy, close to Bergen, Norway. He's been fly fishing since the age of 9. Together with his older brothers, he's been fishing all the local stillwaters, rivers, and creeks of the lowlands his whole life. Coastal fishing is Erland's favorite winter sport, and in the summer, he prefers to move to the high mountains of Hardangervidda.

Erlend has won the Norwegian Cup series 13 times and has 14 gold medals from the Norwegian Fly Fishing Championships.

Fly fishing is Erlend's full-time work now through his own business, Veig AS. Veig AS runs a digital platform with a wide range of fly fishing content, and they also offer courses, clinics, video production, and guiding.

What are your biggest passions in fly fishing? " Wild brown trout fishing and coastal sea trout fishing are two of my biggest passions in fly fishing."

Vision gear that you can't live without? " I would have to say the Nymphmaniac Twintip and the old XO SlowMo fly line."

What are your top 3 flies? "Shuttlecock #16, Pontong Caddis #12, Pheasant Tail Nymph #16"

What is your wildest fishing memory? "I would have to say that spending five weeks fishing on the South Island of New Zealand at the age of 19. I had no guides and a very low budget. Everything was learned by trial and error."
