Cato was born and raised in a fly-fishing family in Bergen, Norway, and has been fly fishing his whole life. Cato is a former competition angler that nowadays spends his time chasing brown and sea trout on his home waters. He has been featured in the Vision film projects, like in the FLY TV and Flymaniacs series.

Cato also used to be a big game SW fly fisherman and has caught some impressive fish in the blue waters with his fly rods. 150 kg blue marlin and 60 kg lemon shark, for example.

What are your biggest passions in fly fishing? " I love sight fishing and dry fly fishing. Watching fish rise to a mayfly or fooling a clever old trout never gets old."

Vision gear that you can't live without? "As a former competition angler, I know nymphing is the most effective way to catch fish, so the Nymphmaniac rod is always in my car. For dry fly fishing, I love my Rivermaniac rod.  When I'm lake fishing, you can't beat the 10' Onki."

What are your top 3 flies?  "Black woolly bugger, small Klinkhammer, and PT-nymphs. "

What is your wildest fishing memory? "It has to be catching that big blue marlin! The handle on my reel broke, so I used a pen as a handle. As you can imagine, it didn't take long for the pen to break... Then I started using a nail, but that didn't work at all. So the last part of the fight, I just used my fingers. It was brutal, but after 50 or so minutes and a lot of lost blood and bodily fluids, the fish was landed. "
